An open-source, fair-code CRM you can actually own
Searching for an open source CRM usually means one thing: you want to see the code and run it yourself. Imago gives you both. It is source-available under a fair-code license, and free to self-host.
You get a full all-in-one CRM, not a starter kit. Inbox, dialer, calendars, funnels, payments, courses and AI agents come in the same app.
Open source CRM or fair-code? What the license means
We want to be precise. Imago is not released under an OSI-approved open source license. It is source-available and fair-code licensed.
In plain words: you can read the code, run it on your own server, and use it for your own business and for your own clients, free. What the license does not allow is reselling Imago or offering it as a public hosted service. The Imago branding stays on self-hosted installs.
- Read and run the full source
- Self-host free for your business
- Serve your own clients from your install
- No reselling and no public hosting
Why fair-code instead of a fully open license
Fair-code keeps the product free for the people who use it while protecting the work that pays for it. It is the same trade-off several well-known developer tools have made.
For you, the practical result is the same as most open source CRMs: no license fee, no seat fee, and no vendor holding your data. You can read how every feature works, check how your data is stored, and run it wherever you like.
A modern stack you can inspect
Imago runs on Postgres and Redis, with background jobs and a realtime service. Docker Compose brings it all up, including HTTPS and virus scanning. Railway works too.
Client data is separated with row-level security in the database. Provider keys are encrypted at rest. A public REST API with scoped keys lets your other tools read and write contacts. Workflows can receive and send webhooks, and the knowledge base has its own API, so your own apps can use the same answers and citations as your chatbot.
More than most open source CRMs ship
Many open source CRMs stop at contacts and deals. You end up wiring in a phone system, an email tool, a scheduler and a site builder. Imago keeps going, and every tool writes to the same contact timeline.
- Unified inbox: SMS, email, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, web chat and calls
- Power Dial, voicemail drop and missed-call text-back
- AI website builder that exports to a ZIP or GitHub
- Payments, estimates and e-signature on your own Stripe or PayPal
- Knowledge base with hybrid search, citations and an eval lab
- Inbound and outbound AI voice agents
How to get the code
Imago is in early access. Sign up with your first name and email, add your GitHub username if you like, and we email you the repository link.
From there, one Docker Compose command starts the whole stack, and a first-run wizard creates your admin account and first workspace. Most people are up in about ten minutes.
Your keys, no markup
An open source CRM should not quietly tax your usage. Imago runs on your own accounts: Twilio or Telnyx for calls and texts, your own email service, your own AI provider and your own Stripe or PayPal.
You pay each provider directly at their prices. Imago adds no markup and takes 0% of your payments. Every channel also has a sandbox, so you can explore the whole app before you add a single key.
